Angela was born and lived in China until fourth grade, when her family immigrated to the United States, seeking better work and education opportunities. 

Laila's family moved to the U.S when she was nine. Leila is also an Australian citizen, where her dad moved to from Iran at age 17. Leila has also lived in China.

Asya is a first generation immigrant who moved to the U.S from Moscow when she was ten years old. 

Jameel was born in Ohio, but, coming from a military family, has been an "immigrant" his entire life. Growing up, Jameel lived in Japan, where his sister was born, Belgium, and San Diego. 

Brandon's parents immigrated to the U.S from South Korea separately. All of Brandon's extended family still live in Korea.

Ava's dad was born in Tehran, where he lived until moving to England for school and later, the U.S. Ava's mom is also Persian, but was born in Philadelphia. 

Chloe's dad is from England and her mom is from Ireland. Chloe was born in the U.S., but is a citizen of Britain, Ireland, and the United States.

Maya's parents immigrated to U.S from India in their twenties seeking better job opportunities and education. Maya lives with her paternal grandparents.

Leah's paternal grandfather is a Persian Jew who immigrated to the U.S from Iran, alone, at 15 years old, fleeing the Iranian Revolution. Leah's maternal grandmother immigrated to the U.S from South Africa.

Alyssa is a second generation immigrant. Alyssa's dad moved to the U.S when he was nine, fleeing conflict in Vietnam.
